blog posts

i post about stuff im thinking of, doing, or just whatevers on my mind. when i think of blog posts, they usually have a very structured way of presenting things. "i went here, then i did this, and this,".

my entries are less focused on what i physically did that day, but more of what im wondering. also, i dont plan on making individual posts their own page. often when i look at other peoples websites, i dont feel inclined to click on them. in the way im doing this, i feel it helps with that.
i hope you are interested in what i have to say.

"im sick" 9/7

the past two days, ive been feeling really sick. im sort of glad i got sick on my four day weekend, though. im just worried ill have to take a day off from work tomorrow.

runny nose, sore and scratchy throat, i feel terrible. my nose is so stuffy im breathing out of my mouth right now. if there are no new updates for a bit, thats why.
im not even sure why i got sick. the only thing i did differently was stay up late. after that, i woke up with a scratchy throat.

yesterday, my temperature was 100°F! for the people that use celsius, thats 37.778°C. yikes!

"movies" 9/5

a few days ago i talked about anime, and i mentioned movies. i figured today id talk about the movies ive seen.

for animatied movies, ive seen Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Mary and The Witches Flower, Totoro, The Secret World of Arrietty, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Ponyo, Howl's Moving Castle, Castle in the Sky, The Cat Returns.

basically most of Studio Ghibli's movies. besides them, i cant think of other animated movies ive seen.
Princess Mononoke is my favorite movie, by far. ive watched it for years. i remember when i was little, i would read the Princess Mononoke wiki while i was at school. i would be excited to go home and watch the movie. there was also a period in my life where i would watch it every night for two weeks. i even began writing all the scenes down in a google doc, making the movie into a readable book. i never uploaded it, or finished it though.

im probably a bit too obsessed with the movie. but that interest has been toned down the last couple years. still, i highly recommend the movie.
please note, it is a graphic movie. there is blood and gore. its not like the more light-hearted movies Studio Ghibli make.

from the list i made up top, i think my second favorite would be Spirited Away. i have both the DVD for Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away sitting on my computer, so that would make the most sense to put next.
honestly, i havent watched it in awhile. that doesnt change the fact that i love the movie, though. i remember, when i was little i would get stressed out as Chiharu starting turning see-through.

from what i remember its a very nonsensicle movie. but movies dont always have to make sense for you to watch them. the vibe they give off can be more than enough to keep you watching.

"anime" 9/2

ive only watched a few animes.
im not big on shows or movies, its hard for me to sit down and watch something fully. it just feels like im being forced to.

when i was little, i absolutely loved Fairytail. though, looking back, it was definitely way too mature of an anime for my age. i didnt even have the whole show, so me and my little brother would watch the same first few seasons over and over again.

the few animes i have watched recently, i havent finished. i usually watch them when i have time before bed.
ive seen Chainsmoker Cat, Cardcaptor Sakura, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

ive tried to get into K-ON! but its honestly a bit boring, im only on episode 2. the scenes in Chainsmoker Cat are a bit questionable, i will admit. but i do love the character designs, they are simple yet effective.

"reading" 9/2

hello!
i wanted to write something for the beginning of the new month yesterday, but i wasnt sure what to talk about. sorry about that!

right now, im reading "The Child Called 'It'"
its a devastating story about a young boy being abused by his mother. im only a few chapters in, buts its been a nice read. ive heard there is a movie too, but im not sure if i want to watch something so gruesome.

sorry for the short update. ill let you all know what i think about the book periodically and when i finish it.

 "tiktok discourse" 8/30

recently, ive seen a creator (who i will not name) on tiktok get flamed for comparing asian fashion to american fashion.
the art they drew showed that the asian fashion they were talking about was baggy streetwear. people have already torn this artist to shreds, but id like to add my take.

streetwear was a type of fashion originating from African American culture. to have asian people (specifically east asian, i doubt they were thinking about south asia) look like they invented that kind of fashion is ridiculous.
its another one of those moments where people on the internet glorify japan and china, acting like theyre the most advanced society in the world.

asian culture is very diverse, and very, very beautiful. to water all of those complex fashion choices down to baggy streetwear, while also claiming that its their fashion to begin with, is just ignorant.

like i said, people are flaming this person. its pretty funny to see. they posted an apology, but the damage is already done. lets hope they dont make a stupid mistake like that again.

 "excitement pt. 2" 8/30

slowly but surely, im updating the website. even if its just tweaking something or adding something small, im working on it.

seeing the views climb up slowly helps me continue. i always wonder what people think when they see my diary. do they think its bad? or interesting?
theres no way to know except for contacting me. no one has done that yet, but when someone does, i hope they like it. i took a small break because of work, but from time to time i still check the views. my small goal is to get it to 100, until then ill try to keep putting out posts.

 "excitement" 8/25

recently while im at work, ive been thinking about my digital diary. the idea of finally completing everything and having people see what i have to say makes me happy. i know its a lofty goal, but i want the views on my site to be in the thousands. knowing that many people were interested in clicking on mine, even for just a moment, pushes me to continue.

 "japanese culture" 8/24

this is a more negative post.
there is a lot of romanticizing of japanese culture today. as much as i love the sights, the food, the music, and much more, japan is deeply flawed. japan is not a "perfect country" like many people claim. yes, they have a lot of advancements, but thats because they abuse the working class. there are many photos of office workers passed out on the sidewalk from their long hours.

it shouldnt be a secret that pedophilia is rampant in japan. there are absolutely depraved people that get away with their actions.
on one hand i would love to be apart of my culture, as i feel detached from it in america, but on the other hand knowing how disgusting part of the history is makes me unsure.
